TOP 10 PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED WITH DIGITAL FILES:

1. Missing fonts
2. Missing images – hi-res images not provided or embedded
3. Low resolution graphics supplied instead of high resolution files.
4. Not enough graphic/scan or images to meet bleed requirements. (.125 inch)(9 pt)
5. Digital files do NOT match the customer’s supplied lasers or PDF’s.
6. Files not set-up to size. (9″ x 12″ folder set-up on 8.5 ” x 11″ document)
7. Four color process blue prints purple even if it looks blue on screen. Make sure there is a large gap between the Cyan and Magenta (a solid blue should be 100% Cyan and 70% Magenta).
8. Photos don’t fill out picture windows (i.e. a tiny gap is left between photo and border).
9. Objects are overprinting that should not be (double check all white areas and make sure they are not overprinting).
10. Line art (logos) saved in 300 dpi grayscale format, rather than 1200 dpi bitmap format.

How to check separations in Acrobat 8.

Open the PDF in Acrobat 8. Go to the Advance menu and click to activate menu. Go down to Print Production and then over to Output Preview. This will open a preview panel. Make sure Simulation Profile is set to U.S. Sheetfed Coated v2. At this point you can toggle on and off your separations to make sure the PDF is correct before sending to Folder Express.

How to check overprinting in Acrobat 8.

Open the PDF in Acrobat 8. Go to the Advance menu and click to activate menu. Go down to Print Production and then over to Overprint Preview. A check mark will indicate if it is on or not. If something is overprinting that is not supposed to, go back into the original document; fix and try again.

Open the PDF in Acrobat 7. Go to the Advance menu and click to activate menu. Go down to Output Preview. This will open a preview panel. Artwork Upload Tool

Did you know that email is not an efficient method for sending artwork and it could corrupt your file?
We have developed a NEW online tool for you to use next time you place an order with us. In addition to having an easier way to send artwork, you can also track your orders, place reorders or new orders and get estimated quotes. This new tool can be found at our SelfService portal. 1. You will need a separate login for this site. Please click on Create Account to register. Registrations are done Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM CT.
2. Once you have received your new username and password, please enter them at the login page, selfservice.folderexpress.com.
3. Choose one of the three icons.

a. Reorders, Invoices & Tracking: Click here to place reorders, track order status, view and print invoices
b. Artwork Upload: Click this icon to upload your artwork. Start by selecting “Add file(s)” and then “Start Upload”. Remember to reference your PO in the Comments/Directions field.
c. Create A Quote & New Orders: Follow the easy steps to place an order in your cart or review pricing of different features for an estimated quote. To confirm that quote, please call or email us to ensure all the additional features you need have been selected.

4. You can click the “Don’t See What You Need” button in the upper right corner to contact support. They will respond within two hours, Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM CT.
